Psychosis:

Many different things can cause the psychotic disorder called Psychosis; strokes, brain tumors, dementia, brain diseases, even drugs and alcohol can be causes of Psychosis.


Many actions can cause one to think someone has Psychosis. The SYMPTOMS include – disorganized thoughts and speech, loss of contact with reality, delusions not based in reality usually involving fear or suspicion, hallucinations, disorganized thoughts, thinking people are out to get them.


There are different ways that Psychosis can be diagnosed. Psychiatric testing and interviews are needed to diagnose a person with Psychosis. Different medical tests can also be used. DIAGNOSISblood tests, drug screens, MRI of brain.


TREATMENTdepends on the cause of psychosis, hospitalization, anti-psychotic medicine.

Depending on the cause of Psychosis and how long a person has been having symptoms the treatment can differ. Sometimes antipsychotic medication only has to be used for a short amount of time for it to be treated but other people with more severe psychosis may have to be on antipsychotic medication for the rest of their lives.


The EFFECT on a person's daily life can be very difficult and terrible. Loss of contact with reality, disturbed thoughts and life, and sometimes being unable to take care of oneself are some of the daily occurrences.



Psychosis is most of the time part of other disorders as well. Bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorder, and delusional disorder are some of them. Sometimes, severe depression can also be part of this list.
